Asteroids aren't just rocks drifting alone out there. They're part of a much bigger system, constantly pulling on each other, brushing past planets, and occasionally colliding with moons, comets, and yes, Earth. They've left their mark on our planet. Many craters come from asteroid impacts, and many scientists believe they helped deliver the water and building blocks that life eventually needed. In 2022, humankind shaped one back. NASA's DART mission slammed into the asteroid Dimorphos and nudged its orbit around its companion Didymos, the first time we ever deliberately changed the path of another body in space. Now we go back to see exactly what happened. Our Hera mission arrives at the Didymos system in November 2026, ready to measure the crater, study what's left, and finally tell us how well that first deflection really worked. Follow Hera's journey with us! 📹 ESA - Terra Mater Studios #ESA #Space #Asteroid
